Our Beginning

Bel‑Air Automobiles Inc. is a story of vision, family, and three generations of dedication to exceptional automotive service in Ottawa–Gatineau.

The journey began in 1969, when Roland Parent opened his first private mechanical garage on Montfort Street. Driven by passion and entrepreneurial spirit, he expanded quickly, launching his first dealership and selling Renault vehicles for a brief period before embracing a new opportunity: Toyota.

In 1970, when Toyota officially entered the Canadian market, Bel‑Air Toyota, owned and operated by Roland Parent, became part of the very first wave of Toyota dealerships in Canada. This milestone marked the beginning of a long and respected legacy within the Toyota and Lexus networks.

Growing the Parent Legacy

As the business grew, Roland expanded eastward. A satellite location opened on Youville Drive in Orléans, later becoming Orléans Toyota. Both of Roland’s sons, Robert and Michel Parent, grew up in the business — working at the dealerships as soon as school ended each day. They eventually became Dealer Principals themselves:

Roland’s daughter, Lise Parent, also played a key role, managing the Bel‑Air Body Shop division.

In 1990, the Parent family once again made history. When Lexus entered the Canadian market, Bel‑Air Lexus opened as part of the first wave of Lexus dealerships in Canada, reinforcing the family’s pioneering role in the luxury automotive sector.

Where we are today

After more than five decades of leadership in the Toyota network, both Bel-Air Toyota and Orléans Toyota locations were sold in April 2024 to Canada One Auto.

Today, Bel‑Air Lexus remains proudly family‑owned, led by Michel Parent and operated by the third generation: Josianne Parent McNaught and Stéphane Parent.

From a small garage in 1969 to a premier luxury dealership today, Bel‑Air Automobiles Inc. continues to honour its heritage of integrity, innovation, and exceptional guest experience — now over three generations strong.
